I just heard about Dickie's passing today.Wish I could be there. I didn't really get to know Dickie until the mid 60's. I remember when he owned that little carryout between the ice house and firehouse there in Gaithersburg. Dickie was a cool guy. Sorry for everyone's loss.

I will always remember your hug the night that PapPap passed away. I loved you and respected you for your love of family and your tell it like I see it attitude. Maybe the Skins will make it to the Super Bowl again one of these days. See ya later, Uncle Dickie Dog. I know Granny and PapPap have been waiting for you.

I have so many wonderful memories about Uncle Dick. He literally saved my life when I was a baby and I have the scars to prove it. Of course, I don't remember the incident, but I've heard the stories hundreds of times when I was growing up. One of his dogs attacked me and bit my face. He scooped me up in his arms and pulled the dog off. When the dog came charging back at me, he fought the dog off. If it wasn't for Uncle Dick, I probably wouldn't be here.
Two of my favorite memories of Uncle Dick have to do with him singing and playing his guitar. When he married Aunt Betty, he sang "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" to her while playing the guitar at their reception. During Vacation Bible School, Uncle Dick helped lead the singing. One of the best songs he sang was "Bullfrogs and Butterflies".
Uncle Dick was one of the most important men in my life. He will always hold a special place in my heart. Thanks for everything, Uncle Dick. I love you!
