I worked on the Sheldon farm from 1977-79. I have nothing but the fondest of memories of my time spent there-it was a great experience. Bob and I worked side by side while there. I never saw him mad or angry. There were times he didn't understand my youthfulness and foolishness, yet never raised his voice to me. He taught me patience and many other life lessons. Bob Sheldon was my friend, mentor, role model... I went back to the farm periodically to show the Sheldons, my family; it was always a joy to see them.
As David said at Anber's passing, "And the king said unto his servants, Know ye not that there is a prince and a great man fallen this day in Israel?" (2 Samuel 3:38).

Dear Ruth, Johnathan, & Liz , I am so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He was such a dear sweet man. What made me so impressed was the way he kept in touch with my youngest step-daughter when she moved away from Fulton. He kept in touch with her for years after she left. I am sure he was the reason she married a Christian man and is teaching her children about Jesus. Thank you so much Bob. Til we all meet again.

Bob was a man of few words. I loved his smile and my memories of him I will always remember. I met Bob and Ruth at the Fulton YMCA. To think I was witnessing to them about Jesus. We went to the same church. !!!!! Ruth and I became close after that. I joined Good News club. We know Bob is with the Lord and we will all be together someday. What a celebration it will be. !!! Love John and Beverly Thompson.

This picture reflects the person and character of my Dad.
He is wearing simple and dirtied clothes. My father co-owned and ran a dairy farm with his brother Skip (Gordon) for many years. At times the farm was also a potato farm. Running a small family farm meant long hard days of work. Despite that, my dad was present and spent time with me when he had downtime during the day. He loved his family.
He is reading to me, and I have to think it was more than one or two books I wanted him to read judging by the childrens books within reach. Also nearby are several other books. My dad was an avid reader, very much a self learned man. He never went to college, yet his love of reading books of all kinds meant his mind was hungry and wanting more.
Behind the chair is a large green houseplant. He loved to make things grow. He had his hands and tools in soil whenever he could, tending a large garden year in and year out until he physically could do no longer.
Behind the chair on the able you will see a Bible, he was a man of faith and deep conviction. He lived out his Christian faith day in and day out, in public and in private. He was involved with the Fulton Alliance Church for decades, volunteering for roles that did not put him on the stage or in the limelight. Over the years he influenced and touched hundreds of people.
Finally, my father is not looking up at the camera. Dad was a quiet, unassuming, introspective and private man. Sometimes that meant it has hard to converse with him, yet he always had words of wisdom and unspoken support.
Dad I love you and will miss you.
Your son, Jonathan

So sorry for your, lost Ruth. In heaven the angels are singing, Bob is rejoicing to be with
His Jesus. Family and friends are gathering around and the song I can only Imagine
Is filling my head. As hard as it is to be left behind it’s for a reason, I
Will never be a widow because in Christ we are only temporarily
Separated. As are you and Bob. The next few days and weeks will go by fast
You will be so busy and than you will get some rest and move forward rejoicing
And making a new normal. Your example as a faithful caring wife will touch and encourage
Others you still have work to do according to God, your many gifts God has given you
You can now Use freely and I know you will. Bob journey here is over and God said to him, well done good and faithful servant.
God has been good to give you so many years with such a great husband.
If you ever what to talk have lunch or coffee call me,I won’t tell you I have been there
But I will let you tell me about your journey because it is different for each of us.
With God you are never done learning or serving Him. Love to all your family and prayers going up for all of you. Bev

Bob was such a kind man. He taught my daughter, Sarai, in Sunday school. I remember that he gave her a stuffed animal from a popular Christian cartoon series...though I don't recall the name of the series the animal was was a ground hog named Gilroy. This toy quickly became Sarai's favorite and she still has it to this day. Everytime I see Gilroy I think of Bob!
Just the other day, Sarai came across book markers with children's bible verses on them. Bob would give these out to the kids during class. And we still use them!
Bob was so kind and gentle spirited. A true image of Jesus. I'm very sorry that he is gone but he made a beautiful impact on the world while he was here.

Have know of the Sheldon farm since I was a kid. Years later our girls became good friends with Liz. They so enjoyed the time Bob spent with them and family. Bob had a kind and gentle spirit that surely expressed his love of Jesus. He was willing to help in church and share his wisdom. A quiet man with a powerful voice heard as a whisper . You will be greatly missed Bob, but never ever forgotten. Your knowledge and wisdom, kindness and love will be felt for generations as those you have touched will pass it on.
