Obituary of Patricia Barnes Kerfien

Patricia Barnes Kerfien, 82, of Volney, passed away peacefully Friday, June 7, 2024 at home with her loving family by her side. Pat was born April 29, 1942 in Fulton to Kenneth and Erma Barnes and was a graduate of Mexico Academy in 1960. Pat was well known and highly respected for dedicating her time to the residents of the Town of Volney over the course of many years. She was the Court Clerk for the Town of Volney from 1993 until 1998 and the Volney Town Justice from 1999 until her retirement in 2016. She was a member and past treasurer of the Oswego County Magistrates Association, a member of the New York State Magistrates Association and in her free time enjoyed gardening. Pat is survived by her husband, Robert C. Kerfien of Volney; her daughter, Penny L. Sheldon of Palermo; her siblings, Richard (JoAnne) Barnes of Mexico, Dolores (Lonnie) Worley of Chiefland, FL, Doris (Bruce) Holliday of Mexico, Robert Barnes of Baldwinsville and Randall (Sharon) Barnes of Palermo as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Barbara Pettit and Janet Barnes and by her sister-in-law, Julie Barnes. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, June 21, 2024 with services to follow at Brown Funeral Home, 21 Flood Drive in Fulton.
