Obituary of James McNulty
James “Terry” McNulty, 68, of Oswego passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Oswego Hospital. Terry was born June 12, 1955 in Oswego to Edward “Chubby” McNulty and Libby L.V. Pearce McNulty. He was a graduate of G. Ray Bodley High School in 1974 and was employed at Black Clawson as a machinist. In 1985 Terry transitioned to work as a mechanic and machinist for Niagara Mohawk. He retired from National Grid as a lineman in March of 2018 due to a disability.
Terry loved spending time with his family as the role of being a Dad and Papa. He would stand behind the glass at his son David’s hockey games and would wear holes through the pockets rubbing the change together from the stress of watching his son being the goalie. He was the beloved Papa to Eden, Jaxon and Ryder and loved watching them play in the woods. Terry was thrilled with the addition of his newest granddaughter Josephine. He enjoyed being outdoors, cutting trees, searching for deer sign and hunting. While his mother was alive, it was a ritual for him to call her during the “Price is Right” as they would discuss the show and work on crossword puzzles together. Terry enjoyed auto races, spending time at the Oswego Speedway and watching NASCAR. He was well known for being a “jokester” and would often put in his “Billy Bob” fake teeth and talk to people in public just to make them laugh.
Terry is survived by his wife, Debra McNulty; his children, Jennifer (Patrick) Suydam, Michelle McNulty, Katherine (Alex) Caruso and David McNulty; his sisters, Susie (Kyle) Cook, Sheila Hemler and Marie (Eileen) Martin; his former wife, Julie McNulty; his grandchildren, Eden, Jaxon and Ryder Suydam and Josephine Caruso.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Brown Funeral Home with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fulton. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, March 15, 2024 at Brown Funeral Home, 21 Flood Drive in Fulton.
